Commissioned content: Six learning packages for Land-Based Learning, including quizzes, videos, animations.

Project contact:  Kath Lowe

Here’s what Kath Lowe said about her experience of running  the Myerscough project:

The Jisc Interactive Learning Resources project provided the catalyst to develop the skills of work based tutors to use Articulate Storyline to produce interactive learning materials that enhance the learning experience of workplace apprentices.

Three tutors who had never used the software previously developed resources that were then enhanced by an e learning developer to improve the functionality and design.  Huge demands were put on the tutors as they had to familiarise themselves with Articulate Storyline and produce resources in the short time span of the project.  The tutors have found the experience very valuable and will continue to develop additional resources.  It has generated interest amongst colleagues who can see a real benefit in using these materials with their learners and it has inspired other tutors to use technology to produce more stimulating learning resources.

We have learned a lot from this experience and I am writing a short document with lessons learned and recommendations on how we take this forward within the organisation. We don’t want to lose the momentum that the project has initiated.

Project summary: Myerscough College will develop interactive learning packages that will  provide underpinning knowledge for the mandatory units within the Level 2 Diploma in Horticulture and prepare the learner to meet the assessment criteria for the learning outcomes. Each learning package will consist of a navigation menu to enable learners to advance at their own pace. Interactive content will include; animations, voice over, video links, formative quiz (drag and drop, drop down box, closed questions, hotspots), set tasks, results pages etc. There will also be a User Guide, Resource menu for additional information and a Glossary of terms.
