Commissioned content: At least five HD videos and accompanying self-study activities including summary notes and online self-assessment in a quiz-based format. Focus on three specific Bricklaying areas: segmented arch; curved work; herringbone decorative panel.

Project summary: Hartlepool College will be producing a set of open learning resources focusing on brickwork. The resource will include HD video, activity and summary notes based on five distinct ‘jobs’. Each resource will introduce the viewer/user to common tools and techniques used to construct the job and crucially showcase the numeracy concepts that appear naturally in the work. The resource is intended to highlight the application and importance of numeracy to students entering foundation construction studies. It will additionally be a useful resource for teachers looking for examples of embedded numeracy. In short, the user will use each on-line resource (potentially held together using Storyline) to view a video, ‘have a go’ at a number of related activities and download a summary note for future reference.
